All white kitchens are always in style, as well as other neutral colors, but lately colors have been popping up in kitchens all over. Design experts weighed in and said that the colors keep getting bolder, leading to a rise in two unexpected colors: yellow and red.
According to MasterBrands Cabinets company, red and yellow are going to have a serious moment when it comes to kitchen cabinetry. A lot of people are getting more comfortable with the idea of going bold with their kitchen colors, and many are becoming quite fearless with their choices.
Although to our modern eye that’s used to all-white, all-black, and neutral tones this may seem like quite a bold choice, Stephanie Pierce, director of design and trends at MasterBrand Cabinets says that was not always the case. She told Apartment Therapy: “Every cabinetry had a choice of yellow, blue, red, and green.” Now, she says, people are preferring to have “choice, uniqueness, and personality.”
Pierce also theorized that as time passed during the pandemic, people started to realize that they’d be spending a lot of time indoors, and that emboldened them to make striking color choices in their kitchens. Spending a lot more time browsing trends on Instagram also made a difference, she said, leading to an attitude of “why not?”
So what are some other kitchen trends we can look forward to?
Marble
While marble has always been in style, veined and textured marble is the up and coming most desirable look. This marble looks absolutely luxurious and can take you kitchen to the next level. Additionally, kitchen islands with waterfall designs are extraordinarily popular these days.
Double Islands
Speaking of kitchen islands, a trend that has been popping up lately is the double kitchen island trend. Due to the huge popularity of open concept kitchens, islands have absolutely taken over. Double islands are the next level of kitchen islands, adding coveted work space in kitchens that have the luxury of extra space.
Handleless Design
Nothing says minimalistic and elegant like getting rid of any unnecessary details. Push open and close doors are becoming more popular, and so handles are on the way out. For those who still want to (literally) hang on to their handles, there are also recessed handles that blend in well and provide a sleek look.
Gold Finishes
Long gone are the days that kitchen taps come in one boring color. Now that all sorts of finishes are available, aesthetics have come into play here too. These days, the color du jour is gold, which gives an elegant and sleek look to any wet area. Now that there are choices available, sinks have become an important part of planning kitchen designs.
